One thing you need to know about a Washington pre-conference...

The Auctions of Washington Wine is the same weekend, so MANY of the Walla Walla winemakers are in Seattle Thursday through Sunday. Thursday is the barrel auction and lots of the best known Walla Walla wine makers will be in Woodinville, not Walla Walla before the bloggers conference.
I am all about supporting Washington wine but it will definitely be more challenging to do before THIS years conference as wine makers are already booked, as in 109 wineries are booked for these events in Woodinville that weekend.

Thanks for the heads up. We will have Katherine speaking at the conference on a biodynamic panel discussion. I'll ask her whether she would want to lead a pre-conference excursion as well. We are just starting to set those up.

Katherine Cole, author of Voodoo Vintners lives there and would love (suggested to WBC) to do a 2 day tour of the Bio-D Pinto vineyards.

Can you have the DoubleTree set up the Blogger code/group rate for a few days before, and a few days after, the actual WBC in Portland, that way we can stay at the same place for pre- and post- excursions without scrambling to pack/unpack/find rooms. Thanks!

The accommodations are setup at a discount for folks coming from out-of-town. The conference itself is the same for everyone (including the excursions).

We lived in Williamsburg,VA for years and watched the WILLIAMSBURG WINERY blossom from the TINIEST operation possible to a big, interesting,
VERY WELCOMING Winery... maybe a trip there???

We live in Sunnyside and drive the Yakima Valley and Red Mountain almost daily and do wine touring here many weekends, so we know many of these locations well.

These tours, which I wisely signed up for, will give me access to places I've never been before and will provide, without a doubt, some of best wines in Washington in addition to meeting some of the iconic vineyard owners and winemakers of the region. What a fantastic set of itineraries!!!!

I lived in Woodinville for 27 years. Now I live in Milton-Freewater - on a vineyard & have a winery. No doubt. It should be Walla Walla.

I live in Woodinville and co-own DeLille Cellars, Grand Ciel and Doyenne in Woodinville as well. While it would be fun to have you all on the West side of the Cascades, W2 is really a great choice. Our vineyard focus is Red Mountain AVA, and this is really only a short one hour from W2 for those who wish to see great vineyards there such as our Grand Ciel, or Ciel du Cheval, Klipsun, etc. By the conference time, which I plan to attend and also support with our wines as appropriate, I will have a second home just outside W2 and I think the drive over the mountains is spectacular and reasonably quick. Let us know as well if you plan to also visit Woodinville too. We would be very pleased to host you at our DeLille Cellars' chateau for a tour and tasting.
